Abstract
Experiments were carried out to remove various organic compounds (oxalic and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acids, and anionic and nonionic surfactants) by electrochemical anodic oxidation. The experiments were performed in an MB-11T-06 flow-through diaphragm electrochemical reactor manufactured by the Russian company ZAO Vitold Bakhir Institute of Electrochemical Systems and Technologies. It was shown that the electrochemical anodic oxidation is the most effective if the solution being treated contains chloride ions at a concentration of 0.5–1.0 g/dm3. Under these conditions, almost complete oxidation of the above organic substances is achieved. It was concluded that the method of electrochemical oxidation using flow-through diaphragm electrochemical reactors manufactured by the Russian company ZAO Vitold Bakhir Institute of Electrochemical Systems and Technologies is very promising for the removal of a wide range of organic substances from industrial wastewater, as well as liquid radioactive waste.
