It highlights β-caryophyllene's ability to mitigate key contributors to sleep loss-induced cognitive impairment, such as inflammation, oxidative stress, neuronal death, and reduced neuroplasticity, by modulating various signaling pathways, including TLR4/NF-κB/NLRP3, MAPK, Nrf2/HO-1, PI3K/Akt, and cAMP/PKA/CREB. As a naturally occurring, non-psychotropic compound with low toxicity, β-caryophyllene emerges as a promising candidate for further investigation.
