Understanding Recommendations From Various Breast Cancer Screening Guidelines

Abstract

Breast cancer is the most common cancer and the second leading cause of death among women in the United States. Screening for breast cancer saves lives. However, the guidelines of professional organizations have ongoing controversies in clinical practice, including the optimal age of screening for mammograms or diagnostic imaging. In this report, we highlight the recommendations of breast cancer screening guidelines for average-risk female patients.
