Abstract

The plasma-assisted ignition of a mixture of synthesis gas in air is considered, when either the air or synthesis gas is exposed to the discharge after which they are mixed and ignited, or otherwise their mixture is exposed to the discharge. The specific strengths of the electric field of the optimal discharge in terms of shortening the ignition time are determined. It is shown that the processes occurring during the transportation of discharge products to the mixing area can significantly alter the mechanism of the discharge effect on the ignition.
