Although the fundamental concepts are usually the same, the process of water restoration may vary from one location to another based on the source of contamination. Dyes are a versatile group of organic compounds found in many industries ranging from textiles, papermaking, leather tanning, and food processing. However, untreated or partially treated dye-containing wastewater in the environment can have a significant impact on human health and ecosystems. Dyes can color water bodies, making them aesthetically displeasing and inhibiting the penetration of sunlight. This may cause water plants and algae to produce less.
