Lymphocytes from the patient were stimulated to proliferate and secrete cytokines and cytolytic molecules when treated with the drug. T-cell cross-reactivity was observed with structurally related PPIs. Abstract
Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are a commonly used class of drugs with a good safety profile. However, their use is associated with rare cases of severe skin reaction.
