Digital image acquisition conditions were optimized to minimize the effects of fabric structural factors. Our method was faster, more accurate, and cheaper than existing methods. Moreover, it is nondestructive and does not require a tracer. The average accuracy of the proposed method was improved by 44.77% compared with the existing surface reflectance method and by 42.51% compared with the binary image method. Moreover, the accuracy was further increased by calculating ( K/S) <jats:sub>λ</jats:sub> for a signal that corresponds to the color of the contaminant particles.
