Abstract
Introduction. Nowadays, many Ukrainians live and work outside of Ukraine. This was caused by events of both a geopolitical nature (military aggression from Russia) and internal problems in Ukraine, particularly the low economic standard of living of the majority of residents of Ukraine. However, having moved to other countries, many Ukrainians encountered problems associated with acculturation, including economic ones. Aim. To analyze the psychological features of economic acculturation of Ukrainian emigrants abroad. Methods. Structured interviews, comparative, quantitative, qualitative and content analysis. Results. This article analyzes the psychological features of Ukrainian emigrants' economic acculturation abroad. The factors that helped the respondents to successfully go through economic acculturation were identified as professional, financial, motivational, situational, and personal. Among the factors that hinder the economic acculturation were lack of knowledge of the language of the country of residence, lack of time for getting accustomed to new realities, lack of necessary connections to start a successful business, and studies at the university. Conclusions. The information presented in the article may be helpful for identifying the psychological characteristics of Ukrainian emigrants' economic acculturation abroad, identifying the factors that contribute to or hinder successful economic acculturation, as well as for facilitating the acculturation process in general.
