This can be prevented with a comprehensive foot management including risk assessment, foot care, education and support of a multidisciplinary team. The purpose of the research was to determine the effect of heaJth education on patient knowledge and self-efficacy in preventing diabetic foot ulcers. This was quantitative research using a quasi-experiment design pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample was diabetic patients who did not have diabetic foot ulcers and they were treated at RSU Kota Tarakan. The sampling used systematic sampling with a total sample of 18 people in the treatment group and 18 people in the control group. The data collection was done through a questionnaire. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test and the Mann Whitney U Test. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the value of knowledge (p=0.001) and self-efficacy (p=0.001) after being given health education between the treatment and control groups. Health education has increased their knowledge and self-efficacy; it influences their knowledge and self-efficacy in preventing diabetic foot ulcuses. Keywords: Education, Knowledge, Efficacy, Diabetic Foot ABSTRAK Penyakit diabetes melitus jika tidak dikelola dengan baik dapat menimbulkan komplikasi akut dan kronis, salah satunya adalah ulkus kaki diabetik. Ulkus kaki diabetik dapat dicegah dengan pengelolaan kaki secara komprehensif meliputi penilaian resiko, perawatan kaki, pendidikan dan dukungan tim multidisiplin. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendidikan kesehatan terhadap pengetahuan dan efikasi diri pasien dalam pencegahan ulkus kaki diabetik. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan menggunakan desain quasy experiment pre test-post test control group desain. Sampel penelitian adalah penderita DM yang belum mempunyai ulkus kaki diabetik yang dirawat di RSU Kota Tarakan. Tehnik pengambilan sampel menggunakan sampling sistematis dengan jumlah sampel 18 orang pada kelompok perlakuan dan 18 orang kelompok kontrol. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test dan Mann Whitney U Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan signifikan nilai pengetahuan (p=0,001) dan efikasi diri (p=0,001) setelah diberikan pendidikan kesehatan antara kelompok perlakuan dan kontrol. Pendidikan kesehatan dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan efikasi diri pasien. Pendidikan kesehatan berpengaruh terhadap pengetahuan dan efikasi diri pasien dalam pencegahan ulkus kaki diabetik.
