Coding for Conditions Due to Heat Overexposure

Abstract

Physicians and other qualified health care professionals (QHPs) may see patients with varying degrees of heat-related illness during summer months. Services provided to address heat-related illness may range from an office evaluation and management (E/M) service to an emergency department (ED) visit or critical care services. This article reviews coding for some heat-related illnesses.
