Abstract

Physical activity has multiple health benefits that have been studied mainly in chronic diseases. This review seeks to investigate the impact on different dermatological pathologies, which is why a search for scientific evidence was carried out using the PubMed and Embase databases. Within the evidence found, physical activity stands out as a protective factor against psoriasis and has a potential role as an adjuvant in its management. There is also evidence that it increases the healing of lower limb venous ulcers in conjunction with compression therapy. The benefit in atopic dermatitis is controversial due to the increase in itching secondary to sweat. Regarding melanoma, there is evidence that physical activity is not associated with an increase in incidence when the effect of UV radiation is adjusted. Also physical activity may contribute to reduce mortality in melanoma survivors and to maintain quality of life in patients with advanced disease. It is still necessary to carry out more clinical studies to reduce methodological flaws that exist in the current evidence in order to increase the power of these conclusions.
