Abstract
Specific processes occur during the development of hard dental tissues, which can be visualised by various imaging techniques. The assessment of the radiological picture at various stages of hard dental tissue formation is essential for assessing the tooth’s development and identifying potential dental disorders. Each stage in the development of hard dental tissues is characterised by distinctive imaging features that can provide valuable information to the dentist. In this regard, indicators such as the degree of mineralisation of hard dental tissues, the position of the dental follicle in the bone mass, the relationship of the dental follicle to other anatomical formations, the position of the drainage canal of the dental follicle crypt and the terms of eruption of the teeth, present key data for the clinician, which will enable them to assess deviations from the norm early, with the possibility of prompt prophylactic intervention. We believe that an orthopantomogram, creating a compromise between informativeness and cost, is an effective screening method for the various abnormalities that may occur during the development of hard dental tissues.
