Abstract

Values; They are abstract ideals that are sought to be achieved and serve as criteria for individuals' behavior, choices, and self-evaluation. Schwartz defined 10 universal values in his Theory of Values and created four value groups that grouped interrelated values. The Dark Triad, which has been conceptualized as a personality trait in the literature in recent years, consists of negative behavioral patterns such as using others for personal gain, egocentrism, cheating, and manipulating others. The purpose of this research is to investigate whether Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and narcissism, which are the dimensions of the Dark Triad, predict Schwartz's value groups of conservatism, self-enhancement, openness to change, and self-transcendence through the implicit variable of the Dark Triad. For this purpose, a MIMIC model was created and tested. The MIMIC model is used to determine whether a large number of observed variables predict a latent variable and whether this latent variable causes a large number of cases. According to the results of the research, Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and narcissism predict the values of power, success, and hedonism in the self-enhancement value group through the dark triad implicit variable. On the other hand, in the research, Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and narcissism predict the values of self-transcendence in the self-transcendence value group through the dark triad implicit variable. It has also been found that it negatively predicts the values of universality, benevolence, and conformity. The dark triad and the dimensions of the dark triad do not predict the value groups of conservatism and openness to change.
