Abstract

Dicksonia sellowiana Hook, tree fern, is a tree-sized fern that occurs in the Upper Montana Araucaria Forest, a subdivision of the Atlantic Forest biome. It is a species of high ecological importance, since in addition to favouring nutrient cycling, it serves as a substrate for several epiphytes. It also has medicinal potential and, having gone through an intense period of exploration, with the cutting of its caudex for the production of decorative vases, it is currently listed as an endangered species, in addition to having been studied in an
