Abstract

The main objective of the study is to determine the relationship between the motivation and job satisfaction of employees in hotels. Additionally, the study investigates the relationship between demographic variables and motivation and job satisfaction. In this context, the impact of demographic characteristics of hotel employees on their motivation and job satisfaction has been examined. The survey technique has been utilized as the data collection tool in the study. The research sample consists of employees of a 5-star hotel chain operating in Turkey. A total of 190 employees were reached and surveyed for the research. The data for the study was collected in 2013, so ethical approval is not required. According to the findings, there is a statistically significant difference between intrinsic satisfaction and gender. When examining the relationship between age and job satisfaction, there is no difference in the levels of intrinsic satisfaction, extrinsic satisfaction, and overall satisfaction based on age. When examining the relationship between intrinsic satisfaction and educational level, individuals with middle school education have the highest perception. The lowest perception is observed among individuals with primary school education. Individuals with education related to tourism have higher job satisfaction compared to those without education. When analyzing the averages between economic motivation and marital status, it is determined that the average of married individuals is higher than that of single individuals. There is a significant and positive relationship between psychosocial motivation and intrinsic satisfaction, extrinsic satisfaction, and overall satisfaction.
