Abstract

The use of Yemeni Hadith on social media in the midst of the Hamas-Israel war has raised several issues. This article comes as a response to this phenomenon and answers the various issues surrounding it. As a desk research, this article uses written data as its source, in the form of Yemeni hadith posts on Instagram and TikTok, hadith commentaries, and data related to the geo-politics of the Middle East. Using content analysis, this article explores, selects, categorises and analyses the written documented data. Using a discourse analysis approach with the paradigm of constructivism, that is, by placing the Yemeni hadith post as something that was fabricated by its author with certain motives. This article therefore seeks to answer the question: how does the understanding of the Yemeni hadith in the post shift from the authoritative understanding and what is behind the post? The results found that the post shows the uploader's incompetence in hadith scholarship and Middle Eastern geopolitics, which makes the interpretation of the Yemeni hadith biased and frames the reader to believe the Yemeni Houthi group as the interpretation of the hadith without considering their political interests. In addition, the uploader's motive is purely a response or concern for humanitarian issues in Palestine.
