Abstract

Delivery of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) to retinal ganglion cells (RGC) is being explored as a potential treatment for various retinal diseases. The use of focused ultrasound with microbubbles (FUS) as non-invasive delivery method for metallic nanoparticles of various sizes and shapes has not been fully investigated. Here, we demonstrate the FUS-assisted delivery of AuNPs of varying size and shapes to RGC and confirmed by two-photon microscopic imaging of the injected AuNPs in the RGC layer.
