Abstract
This paper presents the results of a study of rugose corals from the Ordovician and Silurian of Estonia and the Carboniferous of the Moscow region, and describes their taxonomy in detail. The sections from which the studied material was collected are also described. Morphogenetic characters of the genera and species studied are analyzed based on the available material. New methods of studying this fossil group are proposed. The issue of corallite mutual growth described on the studied material was determined, the main features of rugosan growth during joint settlement, regeneration and astogeny were identified.

Paleontological Journal (Paleontologicheskii zhurnal) is the principal Russian periodical in paleontology. The journal publishes original work on the anatomy, morphology, and taxonomy of fossil organisms, as well as their distribution, ecology, and origin. It also publishes studies on the evolution of organisms, ecosystems, and the biosphere and provides invaluable information on global biostratigraphy with an emphasis on Eastern Europe and Asia.
