The cultivar is resistant to smut (<i>Sporisorium scitamineum</i>) and <i>Sorghum mosaic virus</i> and moderately suspectable to brown rust (caused by <i>Puccinia melanocephala</i>) and leaf scald (caused by <i>Xanthomonas albilineans</i>). It was also moderately susceptible to the sugarcane borer (<i>Diatraea saccharalis</i> F).
