Abstract
Student independence is one indicator of achieving goals in learning. Student independence is influenced by internal and external factors which include interest in learning and family environment. This study aims to determine the effect of interest in learning and family environment on student independence. This study uses a logistic regression model approach with interest in learning and family environment as independent variables and student independence which is classified based on a Likert scale of 1 (not very independent), 2 (not independent), 3 (independent), and 4 (very independent) as variables dependent. Respondents in this study were taken from 146 students at MA Al-Karimi Tebuwung, Dukun, Gresik using a random sampling technique. The results of the study with an error rate of 5% obtained three mathematical models of the influence of interest in learning and the family environment on student independence. Based on the results of the analysis, three models of student independence levels were obtained which consisted of very not independent, not independent, and independent. This result is supported by a coefficient of determination of 40.3% which explains that interest in learning and the family environment have an influence of 63.2% on student independence compared to other influences.
