Only the panicle weight of RSSR was significantly higher than that of MTCS. Furthermore, the management of RSSR was more convenient, which can save water, herbicide and human labor. Abstract

This experiment compared the effects of a novel rice establishment method with traditional machine-transplanting carpet seedling (MTCS). The new method (RSSR) is a modified direct seeding method, which manually or drone aerial sowed the seeds into the field before wheat harvesting, then cover the seeds with wheat straw after harvesting.
