Abstract
Poultry waste is a promising renewable energy source for electricity generation. A poultry farm comprising 20000 chickens can generate a maximum of 2000 kg of waste daily, and this waste contains a substantial amount of stored energy. Typically, this waste is disposed of resulting it doesn't become a daily burden. The main objective of this research was to focus on the extraction of electrical energy from waste through the utilization of a biogas plant. For this study, a digester with a diameter of 8.24 m and a height of 3.30 m was designed for the biogas plant, which can produce up to 148 m3 of gas per day. Consequently, a total of 208.45 KWh of energy can be generated by employing a 13-kW generator. Regarding biogas plants, the estimated cost for installation amounted to approximately BDT 1145500. Furthermore, the payback period for this plant was calculated to be 2 years.
