Diagnosis of A Vaginal Septum During Labor: A Rare Case Report

Abstract

Longitudinal vaginal septum is a rare Mullerian malformation which is often associated with other genital anomalies. It may lead to dyspareunia, dysmenorrhea, primary amenorrhea or even to infertility. We present a case report of a 21 years old, primigravida, with a full-term pregnancy whose diagnosis was only made during labor following bidigital vaginal and speculum examination. A successful vaginal delivery was done thanks to the ligature and section of the septum followed by its total resection after the delivery. Many explorations were carried out six months later and no other abnormalities were found.
