IMPACT OF THE STRUCTURE OF BUILD-UP AREA OF CITIES ON THEIR MOBILITY MODEL

Abstract

Transport in urban area is not only infrastructure, it is also a network of functions between which people would like to travel. This is why the spatial structure of the city - the density and compactness of the build-up area, as well as the relation of this area to center or centers of the city is so important. The aim of the article is to analyze modal split data and population distribution in European cities and to present the resulting conclusions, including the conclusions on how to shape the spatial structure of cities in a way that is conducive to development of active mobility.
