[Endocrine orbital diseases].

Abstract

The authors summarize their experience with so-called orbital compression which they performed in eight patients solely on account of endocrine orbitopathy. From the total number of twelve operations (four times bilateral) they evaluate the results as unsatisfactory. It is a palliative surgical procedure which gives subjective relief and after some time in some instances also functional results. Although this type of disease is not frequent, this method is practically the only solution.
