[Nursing role in hospital-acquired infections].

Abstract

In this brief review the course of the infections through the ages is described and the main discoveries that marked a turning point in the control of nosocomial infections are mentioned. The Nursing intervention and the role of the Nurse in the prevention and control of hospital acquired infections is also discussed.
