Combined extracapsular cataract extraction, posterior chamber lens implantation and pars plana vitrectomy.

Abstract

The authors describe the technique of extracapsular cataract extraction and posterior chamber lens implantation in conjunction with pars plana vitrectomy. In persons with the sequelae of proliferative diabetic retinopathy and retinal branch vein obstruction, as well as those with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment, the procedure enables visual rehabilitation with one operation and seemingly no increase in morbidity.
