Региональное измерение модернизации российской избирательной системы

Abstract

The article discusses the features of the modernization of the electoral system from the period of its formation in the early 1990s, and up to the present time in the aspect of its regional dimension. At all significant stages of the political development of modern Russian society, the modernization of the electoral system entailed a change in the functioning of not only federal authorities, but also regional political regimes. These political changes were not synchronous. The modernization of the electoral system, initiated «from above», overlapping with the peculiarities of the political and economic situation in the region, gave various, sometimes unexpected consequences and effects. This article is devoted to the study of these modernization effects on the example of the Volgograd Region.
