Simulations at wide range of reference speed and load torque are carried out. Performance indices including steady-state error, overshoot and undershoot are employed to assess the speed controller design methods. Abstract

The paper deals with an application of sliding mode control (SMC) in speed controller of field oriented controlled permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) for a simplified model of an electrical vehicle. For the simplified one, zero-pole elimination method is utilized to design speed controller because of its simplicity.
