Abstract

The 8 wt.% yttrium oxide partially stabilized zirconia (8YSZ) coatings were prepared by atmospheric plasma spraying (APS). The microstructure and properties of the coating were analyzed. The results show that the overall morphology of 8YSZ coating is smooth. The XRD pattern shows that the 8YSZ coating don’t undergo phase transformation and has a stable tetragonal phase. 8YSZ thermal barrier coating (TBC) remains intact after 70 thermal cycle tests. The finite element results show that the 8YSZ TBC has good thermal insulation.
