Abstract

 In this article, the author, based on an analysis of the political system of society, within the framework of which statehood is inscribed as an attribute of the cultural-ideological subsystem, comes to the conclusion  that the specificity of contemporary Russian statehood has been disrupted between its declarative and real civilizational essence. Declarative sovereignty has adopted the formal characteristics of domestic statehood. In reality, the value-target settings of the authorities have come into conflict with them, demonstrating an exogenous type of Russian statehood incorporated into the North Atlantic civilization as its peripheral element. Such a situation leads to a reorientation towards the traditional values of other civilizations and undermines the spiritual-moral imperatives of the historical memory of the nation, compelling it to serve the new ideals of Russian society.
