In many cases, the focus tends to be on limiting the symptoms rather than addressing the cause. In this issue we further the discussion on the cause but also address the treatment.With our viewpoint, we address the unseen and unfactored climate impacts of cryptocurrency and then in our commentary, we feature a present period workshop and application tools related to plastic reduction in Africa. In the perspective, I address how the focus of the prevailing economic framework is intrinsically tied to the environmental issues we face, implicitly asserting if we change the goal, we can change the outcome.This issue's book reviews highlight: A Forest Journey: The Role of Trees in the Fate of Civilization and Dao of Civilization as an Alternative Vista on the Future. Both provide a foreshadowing of the future based on human behavior and choices.
