ON THE SECOND HILBERT COEFFICIENTS AND COHEN-MACAULAY RINGS

Abstract

We explore the behavior of the second Hilbert coefficients of parameter ideals in Noetherian local rings. In this paper, we provide characterizations of a Cohen-Macaulay local ring in terms of the second Hilbert coefficients and the index of reducibility of parameter ideals.
