Abstract

The article presents the results on the study of lipid and carbohydrate metabolism in sows in different periods of the reproductive cycle (after weaning, gestation, lactation) on an industrial pig-breeding complex. It was found that in the animals predisposed to postpartum pathology, compared with clinically healthy sows, a high level of glucose was established with a reduced content of lactate and pyruvate, indicating a pronounced intensity of gluconeogenesis. Lipid metabolism has been characterized by a reduced concentration of cholesterol and triglycerides which occurs in case of functional disorders of the liver and the manifestation of inflammatory processes. The revealed changes in carbohydrate and lipid metabolism in sows at different periods of the reproductive cycle can be used to assess the level of energy metabolism.
