The relationship between the concepts of emotional and professional burnout is considered, the prerequisites for the occurrence of this condition among employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia are characterized. As such, there are violations of professional health, professional deformations and destructions, and prolonged stress. The substantive characteristics of the phases of emotional burnout, the symptoms of each of them are presented, the subjective and objective factors of their occurrence and development are indicated. The article contains a description of the results of an empirical study of the emotional burnout of employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia. The purpose of the study was to identify the signs and severity of the burnout syndrome among employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia. The sample consisted of 206 men aged 25 to 45 years, serving in the fire and rescue units of the federal fire service of the state fire service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Voronezh region. The method of collecting empirical information was the method of standardized self-report, concretized in the methodology for diagnosing professional burnout «MBI». This questionnaire was used to identify the components of professional burnout (depersonalization, reduction of personal achievements, emotional exhaustion) and their levels of severity (high, medium, low). As a result of data processing, it was revealed that almost half of the surveyed employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia have emotional exhaustion, a reduction in personal achievements at an average or high level, as well as quite a few of those who have a high level of depersonalization.
