ICD-10-CM Updates for Anemias and Metabolic and Nervous System Disorders

Abstract

The latest update to International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) for reporting diagnoses related to services provided on and after October 1, 2023, includes many new codes for more specifically describing a disease, syndrome, or combination of a disease and its manifestations. This article reviews the code updates for the following conditions and related coding guidelines: Dactylitis in sickle-cell disease Shwachman-Diamond syndrome Metabolic disorders and leukodystrophies Nervous system disorders
