Daun teh hijau (Camellia sinensis (L.) O. Kuntze) mengandung epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) yang berpotensi sebagai antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri dari ekstrak etanol daun teh hijau terhadap bakteri penyebab bau kaki. Telah dilakukan penetapan parameter standar simplisia daun teh hijau. Metode ekstraksi yang dilakukan yaitu metode refluks menggunakan pelarut etanol 96%. Dilakukan penapisan fitokimia pada simplisia dan ekstrak etanol daun teh hijau. Uji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol daun teh hijau dilakukan dengan metode difusi sumuran agar. Penetapan parameter standar simplisia berupa parameter spesifik dan nonspesifik telah memenuhi persyaratan. Penapisan fitokimia simplisia dan ekstrak etanol daun teh hijau mengandung golongan senyawa berupa alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, tanin, polifenolat, kuinon, monoterpen dan seskuiterpen, serta triterpenoid dan steroid. Aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol daun teh hijau terhadap bakteri penyebab bau kaki diperoleh nilai Konsentrasi Hambat Minimum (KHM) sebesar 0,1%.

Foot odor can indicate a person’s poor hygiene and impact social relationships with decreased self-confidence caused by the presence of Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Green tea leaves (Camellia sinensis (L.) O. Kuntze) contain epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) which has antibacterial potential. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of green tea leaves against bacteria that cause foot odor. Standard parameters of green tea leaf simplisia have been determined. The extraction method was carried out by reflux method using 96% ethanol solvent. Phytochemical screening was carried out on simplisia and ethanol extract of green tea leaves. The antibacterial activity test of ethanol extract of green tea leaves was carried out by the agar well diffusion method. Determination of standard parameters of simplisia in the form of specific and nonspecific parameters has met the requirements. Phytochemical screening of simplisia and ethanol extract of green tea leaves contains compound groups in the form of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, polyphenolates, quinones, monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes, as well as triterpenoids and steroids.
