CPT 2024: Start Preparing for Accurate Reporting

Abstract

With 2024 quickly approaching, now is the time for practices to prepare to adopt procedure code changes that will be implemented on the first day of the new year. The 2024 changes to Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) most applicable to services provided to children are discussed in this and upcoming issues of AAP Pediatric Coding Newsletter™. In this issue, articles include discussion of the following topics related to CPT coding changes that go into effect on January 1, 2024: Changes to time descriptors for office and other outpatient services Revisions to guidelines for split or shared visits New guidelines for brief hospital inpatient or observation stays New codes for cardiac imaging procedures (intraoperative echocardiography and venography)
