The Laplacian smoothing method was used to optimize the simplifled mesh model. Results and analysis showed that the method can greatly simplify the plant canopy model and guarantee the quality of mesh simultaneously. Computational e‐ciency of intelligent computation using the simplifled plant model can be greatly improved. The proposed method provides strong technical support for 3D plant model based intelligence computing and improves the e‐ciency of related research. Abstract

Mesh models of plant organs generated by widely used plant geometric modeling methods has the properties of messy, low quality and high uniform density. In order to simplify and optimize the mesh models of plant organs, a QEM based method was proposed to obtain a multi-scale simpliflcation of plant organ mesh.
