Abstract
This work presents a monopole antenna with a matching circuit printed on a 1.0-mm thick FR4 substrate for terrestrial broadcasting systems of digital TV. This antenna comprises an iron stick, a matching circuit and a ground pad. To enhance receiving performance, a matching circuit is embedded between an iron stick and a ground pad, which yields a good impedance matching and achieves a wideband operation at the Ultra High Frequency (UHF) band. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed antenna can operate at the frequency band from 430 MHz to 900 MHz in which VSWR is smaller than 2. The measured radiation patterns reveal good omni-directional characteristics. Particularly, the proposed antenna has gains ranging from 1.2 to 2.4dBi. Therefore, the antenna proposed herein exhibits a wide impedance-matching bandwidth, good radiation patterns and fairly high antenna gains for digital TV applications.
