Abstract

Installation of Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion Power Stations on shoreline or offshore platforms will require lengthy, bottom-following seawater pipes. A conceptual design study was conducted to address the technology required of deepwater, large diameter pipe laying with particular emphasis on the selection of foundation concepts and installation procedures. The study (Giannotti & Associates, Inc., Ref. [1]) was the development of the pipeline installation concept, Cable Supported Pipe with Piecewise Replacement (CASPPR).
