DBI: A Model for Drive-By Intelligence

Abstract

There are many situations where it would be beneficial to drive through an area and gain some specific intelligence about the area. This gathered intelligence could include decisions. It may be a bank wishing to determine the average house price in a neighbourhood or it may be a botanist looking for areas of invasive plant infestation. Often the person with the knowledge or expertise to make such decisions does not have the time to drive through a specific area so it would be beneficial if this process could be automated. This paper describes the DBI model (Drive-By intelligence) which explains how this can be automated. Besides describing the model, one concrete implementation of the model is also superficially described.
