Abstract

Travelling waves for real and complex reference impedance scattering parameter networks are reviewed. The deficiencies of the complex impedance Kurakowa and Youla power wave formulation are noted. New definitions for power waves are presented which leads to simplification of S parameter matrix definitions and two-port circuit analyses with complex reference impedances. Sample calculations on a simple two-port circuit verify the accuracy of the new power wave formulation. Additionally, a general power reciprocity theorem is presented.
