A Note on the Transliteration

Abstract

The system adopted in this book for transliterating the Palestinian dialect follows the guidelines established by the Zeitschriftfur arabische Linguistik, articulated in Handbuch der arabischen Dialekte, by Fischer and Jastrow, two editors of that journal. Readers are referred to the grammatical discussion in Chapter 10 of that work ("Das syrisch-palastinenische Arabische") and to the examples provided in Section VII immediately following the chapter.
