Abstract

The paper proposes a novel efficient tri-state boost converter. It introduces a state of zero inductor voltage to reduce the inductor charging and discharging time. Then, the core loss is reduced due to reducing the inductor ripple current. In addition, by adding the auxiliary inductor, the current of the freewheeling diode naturally drops to zero, which eliminates the reverse recovery loss.
