Abstract
This paper deals with the performance improvement of a variable speed wind turbine (VSWT) using a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based on a fractional order control. The decoupled direct control of active and reactive powers is used to achieve maximum power point tracking. The fractional order proportional and integral (FOPI) controllers are proposed to offer an additional degree of freedom compared to conventional ones. Controllers design is realized using an analytic method based on frequency domain specifications at crossover frequency namely phase margin, gain limitation and robust to gain variation. The obtained simulations results show the effectiveness and the performance control improvement of the considered wind energy conversion system in all the operating regions with objectives satisfaction of each region.
