Abstract
The paper investigates the sociological and psychological approach to social networking sites and their impact on people. It cannot be categorically stated that social networks bring only benefit or only harm. There are both narrow social networks that can be useful for work, and multiplayer with great functionality that provides both business goals and entertainment. Many of the potential risks of social media impact on young people’s mental health go unnoticed by parents, teachers, and young people themselves. For example, obsessive use of social media by adolescents and students can lead to attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder, impulsive disorder, impaired mental function, paranoia and loneliness, which are relevant in a pandemic.
