Abstract
This paper proposes a new approach for the analysis of physical processes. Based on several assumptions regarding the information available regarding the physical processes, we constrain the generation of the transition system. The method is based on the theory of regions that allows for the building compact representations as Petri Nets of transition systems and a set of explicit descriptions for some of the activities. The resulting compact model will exhibit the same behaviour as the input transition system. In order to evaluate the resulting process model, several quality dimensions have been established.
