Abstract

We live determined by the reality and advances of digital technologies. The technical progress marks, and transforms, the ways of living and coexisting, how we relate and communicate, both in the possible consensus and in emerging conflicts. Social action and its intervention processes, as a basic instrument of integration, must know and confront the functioning of these technologies in the individual and collective impact in the communities where they work and where they act, measuring their function as cause or consequence of social problems object of attention, or as a useful tool to solve or mitigate them. Thus, social work and other socio-political disciplines have to include them, integrally, in their methods and protocols (interrelating research, insertion and dissemination) for the benefit of improving the means and levels of integration of users of social services, thereby increasing the participation in their creation and design from innovation and development (R + D) from their own professional and academic experience; always at the service of citizen’s needs and social rights, in the face of current and future changes in the welfare state, as opportunities or risks, in the historical horizon.
