Taxonomic note on Stachys mucronata (Lamiaceae) and its position in the genus system

Abstract

Critical note on Stachys mucronata Sieber ex Spreng. (Lamiaceae) is given, its position in the genus system is established. On the basis of data of its morphology and phylogenetic evidence known from the literature, the species is treated here within the monotypic section Mucronatae R. Bhattacharjee and the subgenus Eriostomum (Hoffmanns. et Link) Krestovsk., the latter is given a new rank. The lectotype of S. mucronata is designated.
